Pinterest - Products, Places and People I Love

Do you create vision boards? Do you have images, thoughts and things you love and want to gather in one place? Well look no further than this new "networking" site. I know, another site to keep track of. . . . Well, this one is different. It's mostly visual and it gives you a beautiful place to gather all your online "stuff".

This photo is of my boards on Pinterest I can create as many as I'd like and "pin" whatever makes me happy on those boards. Books, people, recipes, fashion can all be categorized as I see fit and kept for future reference. The best thing is, it's all VERY visual. Whatever I post should have an image attached to be easily found when I return to my profile. Therefore, it becomes a lovely place to take mini "journeys" into.

Following others is a great way to find new items to re-post to your boards and having others follow you is an easy way for you to share whatever information you'd like. BTW if you're on Pinterest, I'd love to have you follow me, I will definitely follow back. On Pinterest, you never know what's going to develop so it's just fun to see where others gain their inspiration and what they have to say.

Project Spectrum!

An inspirational project that designates a color for the month and you get to decide how to showcase it! This round of Project Spectrum goes for 7 months using primary colors as inspiration. For the month of May the color is Red! Whatever you want to showcase is up to you.

My first red project for the month is a carnation square that I made for the Carnation Bouquet Afghan Project being done by The Crochet Dude for charity. Since I was working on project spectrum I decided to kill two birds with one stone and kick off my "Red Spree" with this square.

It was quick and fun! Plus, there is no better feeling than to know you have contributed just a little bit to a worthy cause! I'll talk more about the afghan project later, as well as a project I'm putting together, but for now, I encourage you to snap photos of your red inspiration and post it to my facebook page, or to the Project Spectrum facebook page to help others get inspired as well. Make it an opportunity to keep your eyes open and see all the beauty around you via the color red.

Etsy Furniture!

We're in the process of purchasing our first home. With the financing and the interviewing of a buyers agent, and scouring listings for homes we'd like to visit, it's a long and crazy ride.

One of the things that really gets me excited is looking at the furniture listings on Etsy and dreaming of the day we'll be able to have art pieces in our home!

Here are a few of my favorites

This amazing piece of art is made by Michael Arras. I love the combined simplicity and complexity of this piece. I love the coloring and the creativity. . . ahhhhhh

This fabulous end table is created by Farzan Nemat of MSTRF on Etsy. Again, the complexity, and yet the simplicity of this piece is what drew my attention. It is very modern, which isn't usually our style, but I can see it in our country/modern style surrounded by softer items and fitting in just perfectly! Such amazing work.

Last but certainly not least, is this vintage telephone table lovingly restored and artistically presented by Alicia and Tony of Chromalab. I look at this table and think how sweet it would be to have it in our sitting room with a beautiful old fashioned phone, dating back to the same era sitting on it's top. . . .

Oh, I'm now ready to tackle the home purchase cause I've so many inspiring ideas to work on after the move!

My Inspiration

You never really believe your life will change when another life becomes attached to it until it happens. When I got married, my outlook turned from a "me" to a "we" and it motivated me to make certain changes in my life, not without growing pains, but they were made. Two and a half years ago our "we" was expanded and things have certainly not been the same.

When my little boy was born we made decisions that were best for the three of us. When I speak of "my inspiration" I speak of what I'm inspired to do to make sure we're moving in the right direction for our son to have the best we can give him (not monetarily) wherever we are. When I would travel an hour and a half to get to and from work, it was because I was inspired to do what needed to be done, to move to where we need and want to be. When I work on crochet or knit projects and patterns after my son has gone to bed, it's because I'm inspired to develop a business that will allow me more time with my family.

Inspiration comes through motivation to do what is best for those in my life and for myself. Sometimes, when I look at my son and how happy and healthy he is, I can't help but pick up my needles, laptop, hook and yarn, or notebook to chart the course I'd like to see Yarn Obsession take. I know that having my own business, with my own hours, is the only way I can give my son my presence, the best thing I could ever do for him in the long run.
