Sedruola Maruska on Heart Handmade Blog

I love to do interviews. Not because I get to talk about myself, but because I get to truly think about the subject I'm being interveiwed about and be sincere in my responses. Crochet and my shop are great subjects because it always gives me a chance to "re-assess"

Today I'm profiled on the Heart Handmade Blog and I think it went pretty well.

I'd love to hear what you think about the post. . . leave me a comment

BTW - there is a coupon code for that particular interview, so why not go by, find out a few new things about me and get a coupon code for your efforts!

Happy Monday!

Silent comeback contest

I'm sure many of you have been wondering where I've been. Well, I've been working on other pursuits but life isn't done twisting me around just yet! However, I've found that no matter what happens, and how far I go, I always come back to yarn. . . so here I am, working on new projects and loving every minute!

As a "silent re-opening" incentive, I'd like to run a small contest. The prize will be <--- a="a" href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/64582338/pattern-crochet-woven-lemon-neckwarmer" latest="latest" my="my" of="of" prototype="prototype" this="this">pattern. All you have to do is leave a comment to this post thanking a specific service-person or saying why you are grateful to the troops for their service. That's it!

This contest ends on January 2, 2011 and the winner will be announced on January 3, 2011. Everyone is eligible to enter, so be sure to tell your friends to come by and leave a comment! Winners will be selected by a randomizer.

Good luck!

I've been tagged. . . Your chance to know some random facts about me

I'm excited to have been tagged by The Funky Felter. As long as I've been doing this blog, this is my first tag so it's exciting to be included and to include others!

In this game of tag you get to hear 7 random facts about me. I hope you still find me an interesting person after reading them. . . or at least still likeable. :)

Fact #1: I am 5'0 tall. Many times people don't realize how "short" I am because they've either met me while I've been sitting (and I sit very tall) or I've always worn heels around them and they've never noticed. Whatever the case, I'm 5'0 and it's always been my biggest asset!

Fact #2: I'm the eldest of three siblings, but people who have just met us all, usually think I'm the youngest. . . can't complain about that, but my sister can!

Fact #3: I am a first generation Haitian-American who has grown up with duel cultures. It is a wonderful thing to be able to understand someone in their own culture because it is a lot like the one you've grown up with.

Fact #4: My dream is to be my own boss so that I can be the master of my destiny.

Fact #5: Besides fiber I love to work with paper and pictures. I don't get much of a chance to do scrapbooking, but I absolutely would love to get lost in it if I had time. One day, I'll have my own "craft room" where I can house all the paper, yarn and supplies I hoard.

Fact #6: I used to dream about owning a BMW, but now I dream about owning a Prius! Don't get me wrong, I still want the BMW, but for all the driving I anticipate doing with my craft shows and children's activities (coming soon), a Prius fits into the dream more readily.

Fact #7: I could watch HGTV all day and all night if my husband would let me. I absolutely love to see the creative ways people decorate, build or alter their homes on budgets that fit into my reality!

Whew, I seemed to get through that one. I hope you had as much fun as I did! Below are the rules of the tag as well as the people I've chosen to tag with this game.

The Rules:
::Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog.

::Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random and some weird.

::Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

::Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Tag you're it!

About Sedruola Maruska

Among the hats I wear is that of a yarn enthusiast! In 2002 I taught myself to crochet after I met my then fiance's grandmother. Not only did she crochets, but she knits, makes paper beads, quilts, paints and recycles everything that comes into her home. I figured if she could do all those things, then I had to be able to do at least one. Thus began my Yarn Obsession. My first project was a scarf for my fiance. Looking at it now, because my husband still wears it proudly, I think it's a horrible job. But only the eyes of experience would tell me that. I've wanted to take it apart and make it "better" many times, but then I think, how do you know how far you've come, if you don't have anything to look back on? So he wears it and I cringe.

Since then, I'd like to think my skills have gotten a whole lot better! I started making items for everyone I could think of. My bridesmaids each got a custom afghan in their favorite color and I couldn't buy or use enough books. I now write my own patterns, sell my items on Etsy and am looking forward to making yarn my life's work.

Who knew the spark I needed would be found in the Midwestern part of the United States in a simple inviting home I could never have dreamed up?

This blog is to help get the word out about what I do, profile and help others along the way and to share as much information as possible about the yarn arts.
