Pinterest Project - Apple Smiles

Last week I started telling you about the projects I've found on Pinterest that I've decided to try in real life. The last time it was a crayon project, this time it was a food project. I don't really have a problem getting my son to eat fruits, he's a big fan, but I figured he'd really get a kick out of making these cute apple smiles (or what turned into creepy smiles) so close to Halloween.

So while his cousin was visiting I decided we'd make these after Tae Kwon Do practice. We stopped at the supermarket to get some apples because we already had the peanut butter and marshmallows at home. Once we got home we got busy.

I cut the apples and made the first one so they could see how it was done, and after that they had a blast putting them together and eating them. It was the perfect snack full of giggles and fun. I will certainly do this again when I get the chance. . . after I've exhausted all other Pinterest projects, of course! Here are some photos of our adventure!

Yarn abounds

I've started to go through my sweaters and I've found a few that won't make it to the next Winter season. What will happen to them? I am going to reprocess and repurpose the yarn. I can't wait!!!! It is one of my favorite things to do and the anticipation is killing me. There just isn't enough time to do what I want to do. I'm thinking the dark green sweater is going to have to become a hat and scarf set since the yarn is nice and heavy and a great color for a man. The cream and mint sweaters are wool acylic blends and the yarn is going to unwind to very fine, so I'm thinking shawls for the late Summer and Fall. The only thing I need to find now is my yarn winder. . . hum.

Here we have the purple yarn that has become another hat in just a few days! I'm looking forward to totally completing it and listing it for sale on Etsy! The purple is so amazingly rich it's the perfect hat for someone that loves purple! I think I'm going to push my designs and create new patterns! I have a few ideas floating around in my head, but again. . . where is the time???? Oh how I pray for more time.

Finally, we have the orange sugar cubes scarf. Yes, it has helped me write the pattern, yes, it is almost done, and yes, I plan on listing it on Etsy. . . soon! In the meantime, check out the Treaury I was able to snag yesterday. I've showcased artists from the EtsyFAST (Fiber Arts Street Team) and I think the yarn is lovely, but the projects are so cute! Growing on the road

The other day I was on the train going to work and I was working on this project. As I worked away, I noticed that some people were reading the newspaper, playing cards, sleeping and studying. I thought to myself, what a great way to get to work. After doing what you want while you get there, you're ready for the day! Not only are we keeping all our cars off the road for the hour + it would take us to get to work, but we get to have fun. . . anyway, as I was saying, I started Sugar Cubes Orange on Tuesday evening and it's growing on the road. Back and forth to work, and at lunch. I suppose I'll have the pattern written and posted by tomorrow evening and my new project ready for it's Etsy showing by Sunday (I'll be in NYC on Sat).

On the horizon. . .

This weekend I got a chance to go through my stash and get it all in one place. I also got a chance to see what I actually have and what projects may be on the horizon, and I must say, I was completely excited. However, don't you sometimes get so excited about so much that you then become overwhelmed? I'm working on not letting that happen. The skeins you see here are the ones I picked to start creating projects. I realize that if I want to publish patterns I probably need to write them down. So I'm starting with the very bright orange yarn and duplicating my Sugar Cubes Scarflette (pictured above) so that I can write the pattern. I think I'm going to love it even more in orange!
