Comment to Win - Etsy Treasury

Click "here" to be taken to the treasury to comment to win!
Today I'm doing something a little different. This week I've been completely off my game because of various reasons so I was not able to get a shop profile together. However, I did have the presence of mind to join in this "Comment to Win" treasury game by the Avid Treasury team. So, today you can go to this treasury, leave a comment for a chance to win all the items in the treasury! How's that for a great start to Spring?!

BTW - This weekend we lose an hour with Daylight Savings Time, so don't forget to turn your clocks forward one hour before going to bed on Saturday!

Treasury fun!

One of the really fun things to do on Etsy is create treasuries of shops. Treasuries are a collection of items pulled together by those of us who make up the Etsy community.

This past week I've been having fun discovering new shops and items that are just yummy! Here are two of the treasuries I was able to pull together in the 10 or 15 minutes that I've had to create treasuries through my day.

If you see something you like, don't hesitate to visit the shops, I'm sure they'll be excited to see you there.

Etsy Artists of Color Street Team

This green treasury is just another way of honoring black history month. The "Etsy Artists of Color" (EAOC) street team is made up black and latino artists who are creating beautiful items to sell for fun or for profit. It is a circle of people supporting each other in their artistry.

If you'd like to know more about any of these artists go to Etsy.com and search for "Team EAOC" you'll find all types of items made with care by the members of this team. I know it's Saturday, but I missed posting about a favorite shop yesterday, so should take care of that post.

Happy shopping!

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Martin Luther King, Jr. is certainly the most prominent name when it comes to celebrating black history, however, he is only one voice among many. As we celebrate black history month, I hope to bring you more names and faces to add to the long list of those who've worked around the world!

This treasury is created to showcase the items that are being sold on Etsy featuring Martin Luther King, Jr. to view the items more closely or to purchase an item Click Here and you'll be taken to the actual treasury on Etsy.

Sometimes, It's personal.

It's been an interesting few days to say the least. Starting on Wednesday night when we, as a family attended a holiday party for on of the schools my husband works for. We had a fantastic time with a magician, caricature artist and a "build-a-bear" style vendor. All paid for by the school, and all lots of fun for the kids. The food was wonderful as well. But, the highlight of the evening came when it was time to "boogie" on the dancefloor. My boy loves bands and he was the first one out there. However, upon reaching the dance floor, he promptly ran into a young lady who wouldn't let him go. . . literally. This is not just a proud momma talking, I have video to prove it.

On Thursday, I spent a the bulk of my day working on this blog. Updating it, moving things around and just tweaking along. I don't often get the opportunity so I took it, and am I glad I did. Thursday was a rainy cold day. The temps never rose above freezing and the rain never stopped. . . so by Thursday night, when the temps began to fall, and it was still raining we were ripe for some mayhem. Nature delivered and we were covered in ice.

It was beautiful, especially when the light hit just right, but it was not good for "business as usual". We awoke to a dark house, no heat, no stove, no computer etc. Many would have had a meltdown early in the day, but we went most of the day sitting in front of a fire. Me with my project, my hubby with his student papers and my son with his superhero action figures. When the sun began to go down at about 4pm, that's when we decided we needed to do something in order to be able to function for the evening. . . so we packed up books, shower goods, etc. and headed to my brother's place for food, heat and showers!

My fireside project was crochet. I spent the day working on a project I thought I'd never be able to finish before Christmas, but am now confident I can. There is always a bright side.

We spent both Friday evening and Saturday evening at my brother's house, but on Saturday night, when we came home ready to build a fire for the night, we found the power had returned! What a relief since we'll be hitting the road on Thursday morning and there is lots to be done before then.

In my tradition, here are a few Treasuries that I was priviledged to be a part of last week.

Anyway, alls well that ends well and we survived the first "storm" of the season.

Odds & Ends

Finished!! Martha and I met at an Obama rally in September. I gave her my card because she and her husband had forgotten their camera and asked if I could take some photos of their family with Barack in the background. I did and giving her my card was the easiest way for her to send me a quick email so I could in turn send her the photo.

She noticed that I made knit and crochet items so she decided to place an order and so came to be this beautiful piece that will be off to her this week. I plan on making it available in my Etsy shop as a custom item.

Technique: Knit
Materials: Merino Wool
Pattern: Mine

This really great circular/regular scarf has been done for some time, but I've never taken any photos! It is extra-long, soft and incredibly versitile. You can find it at my Etsy shop. This one is currently available, but this will also be listed as a custom item. I love it when I'm able to offer items as "custom" because the customer can then decide what color they want, order it, make some adjustments and have just what they want.

Technique: Crochet
Materials: Acylic
Pattern: Mine

I was featured in a blog post about neckwarmers! It's so exciting when people look at my items and love them so much they want to feature them! Take a look at this article on Clippings.

This week I was featured in two treasuries!

This one was curated by LycheeKiss

This one was curated by This Is Bexx Called Boston Handmade. She is a fellow memeber and she created this treasury to promote our presence in downtown Boston from November 28 to December 28!

Can you say exciting week!!! Can't wait to see what this week brings!

Monday Treasures

Yes, I was lucky enough to snag a treasury last week! I decided it needed to be a bit bright since it's been a bit gloomy in Boston lately and did everyone deliver! I posted a request for "first time" treasury appearances and got a few responses that turned out to be just perfect.

Monday Treasures

I've decided that if I've had the opportunity to put together a treasury the previous week, it will be featured on my blog the following Monday! There are so many talented artists/crafters on Etsy that it's a shame every treasury doesn't make it to the front page. However, if I can prolong the exposure I will.

Last week I was able to create a treasury entitiled "Not my favorite. . . " inferring, as you can see in the subtitle, that although pink is not necessarily my favorite color, it can and is beautiful. . .

I was sitting at my desk, eating lunch and decided to look at the treasury to see when it would open up and noticed it was at the magic 333, within 30 seconds it opened up and all I could think of for a title was "sprung on me" so that is the name of this treasury I created with lovely items created by my fellow Boston Handmade teammates!

You click here to see it until Thursday, November 6th or you can see it here in a "mini" form and get links to all the lovely shops!

Simple Pleasures

I made it into another treasury!

I would showcase the shop owner here, but they have no shop. I think they may be an Etsy buyer, which is great because when customers like your stuff, it's attracting great attention.

Yarn Obsession featured in Treasuries!

It's always nice when people love your stuff enough to feature it in a treasury they've put together on Etsy. It's happened a few times for me, but I'm taking someone's idea and featuring the treasuries here, so you can see them even after they've expired.

It's great to be seen and heard!

This treasury called "Love that Dirty Water" featured items inspired or created in and around Boston. It was curated by Designs By Helen.

This tresury called "Etsy Artists of Colour in October" featured items made by EAOC (Etsy Artists of Color) Team members. It was curated by Miss Ann.
