Tunisian Crochet Basketweave Wristwarmers

Tiny Cables Crochet Wristwarmers

It took a bit longer than I anticipated, but these Tiny Cables Crochet Wristwarmers are finally done! I got the idea because at my job I can wear a sweater, but my hands always seem to stay a bit "cool", I wanted some cute wristwarmers that would do the job, keep my fingers free for typing and the mouse and look cute when away from my desk. These are perfect.

I worked these crochet wristwarmers up in "Bamboo Ewe" which is a lovely yarn. The stitch texture can be clearly seen, the yarn is soft to the touch, and warm. I couldn't ask for a better yarn for this project. These crochet cables are small and easy to learn, the wrist ribbing is done in Tunisian Crochet.

I would categorize this crochet pattern as intermediate. These lovely crochet goodies take one ball of yarn to complete and can be done quickly for any gift-giving needs. The pattern is available in the Etsy Shop, Ravelry, and soon for the Nook and Kindle!!

Olivia's Butterfly - Pattern Review

Sometime in December I discovered the "Olivia's Butterfly" pattern on Ravelry. I think it was around the time I decided I wanted to give my "designing" brain a break and work on some ready-written patterns instead.

When I saw this ubber-cute pattern I decided it looked easy enough and fun enough to do, plus I needed a new hat for my baby girl. Olivia's Butterfly was perfect! You can find Valerie's pattern on her blog Vallieskids. Not only did I enjoy making this hat, it was so easy to follow her directions. The pattern was well written and a breeze to do.

I sat down to make one, but ended up making 4 - 5 hats for various people and busting my stash to a nice degree. Will I make more? Yes!!! I have a few more kids and ladies in my life who would love this hat. . . I also made one for myself, which is not something I do often.

Go check out the pattern for yourself, I'm sure you'll be excited to see it is easy, fun and very cute!

Sabrina is a Crochet Crop Top created from this pattern now available in my shop! Sabrina is the new name given to this re-worked pattern that will retire from the shop on October 31. The reason I re-worked the pattern is because I got so many requests for an all crochet top rather than one that combined both knitting and crochet.

Free Crochet & Knit Pattern: Gentlemen's Cowl

Men are sometimes the hardest to create and buy for! This crochet & knit cowl pattern is designed specifically with the male in mind, although it can be used by the female persuasion as well.

If you are a beginner in both knitting and crochet, you can create this very simple piece with great results! It uses basic stitches and works up pretty fast and easy.

Level: Beginner
Materials: 

• Size 8 knitting needles
• Size H8 crochet hook
• 2 medium size buttons
• Tapestry needle
• 1 Skein worsted weight yarn (color A) (6 oz)
• 1 Skein worsted weight yarn (color B) (6 0z)

Stitches Used:

• K = Knit
• P = Purl
• SC = Single Crochet - (video demo)
• HDC = Half Double Crochet (video demo)

Instructions:

• With color A and size 8 knitting needles, cast on 80
• Row 1: k across
• Row 2: p across
• Repeat rows 1 & 2 until you have 26 rows, change to color B and continue for 26 rows, bind off

Crochet Panel 1: Holding colors A & B and using H8 crochet hook

• Row 1: on first edge of knit panel sc in 20th st from edge, then sc across 20 sts, turn
• Row 2: Ch 2 hdc in 20 sts across
• Repeat row 2 for pattern until 6 rows total, bind off

Crochet Panel 2: Holding color A & B and using H8 crochet hook

• Row 1: On second edge of knit panel, sc in 20th st from edge, then sc across 20 sts, turn
• Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in 20 sts across, turn
• Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in next 5 sts, ch 2, skip 2 st, hdc in next 5 sts, ch 2, skip next 2 st, hdc in last 6 sts, turn
• Row 4: Ch 2, *hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in ch 2 sp, repeat from * to last 6 sts, hdc in last 6 sts, turn
• Row 5: Ch 2, hdc in 20 sts across, turn
• Row 6: Ch 2, hdc in 20 sts across, bind off

Finishing
Sew buttons onto flat crochet panel across from buttonholes on crochet panel 2. Bind off, weave in ends, wear.
